A Whole Llama Love

Last weekend, the hubby and I were showered with a soiree that featured so many of our favorite things: our friends & family, delicious food, bright colors, blue cotton candy, a special cake and lots of balloons. Plus, llamas and cactus decor? What’s not to love? I am excited to share with y’all this magical day celebrating our babe on the way!

We are off to Ross & Hall to celebrate with our family & friends. So excited!

When Jay and I first met, I noticed that he had a weathered cactus sitting on his patio. He told me that his sister, who lives in London, gave it to him quite awhile back and that he loved it. I thought it was the cutest thing ever—how he took care of it and kept it alive for so long. Years have gone by, and yes, we still have “Mr. Cactus” sitting on our patio, alive and well. It really is the little things in life that are so special!

With this memory in mind, and the fact that we both love llamas, our friends and family knew that a “Cactus & Llama” baby shower would be the perfect celebration!

The party kicked-off at Ross & Hall in Dallas. Side note, if you live in the area and are looking for a fun spot to watch games this football season…Ross & Hall is seriously a great place to be!

When we first walked in the door, there was a cute table set up with cactus confetti, a photo of our growing family {thanks to Cassie Loree Photography}, handmade Four Sisters Farm Soap Co. soaps in muslin bags stamped with turquoise llamas for our guests and a fun “Guess The Weight & Guess The Date” game. We saved everyone’s guesses in an embroidered box. I can’t wait to look at them after our boy is born and see who was the closest!

Gosh, the decor was so so cute…and so us! Kathryn’s mom made the cutest llama centerpieces, there were cactus candles set up on the tables, matching plates & napkins, cactus gummies and more. I also have to give a shout-out to Tayste Cakes for the adorable llama cake. He {eventually named “Llamar the Llama”} was completely edible, from his head to his hooves. LOL. She also made the cutest cake pops and cookies that revealed our baby boy’s name, Blaine

One of my favorite additions to the party was from Social Llama Events—a cotton candy machine with BLUE cotton candy. This was so much fun to have because our friends and their kiddos were able to whip up their own cotton candy cones…and then of course, eat them. Between the cotton candy, fresh fruit popsicles, cake and cookies…I think everyone was on a sugar high that day!

For the food, we wanted to keep everyone’s bellies filled so that they could relax and have a good time. There were quite a few fellow preggo friends there, so food was a must! Ross & Hall has the best chicken strips, so we filled up a table with chicken strips, pizza, salad and pimento cheese dip.

I just wanted to say thanks to my amazing momma & my soul sister, Kathryn Dunn and her sweet momma for everything they did to make our baby shower so special. Also, huge thanks to Social Llama Events who seriously added the coolest and most unique final touches.
